Eight engineering programs get accreditation

The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and the Technical Engineering Accreditation Commission of ICACIT, renewed accreditation of programs of Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information System Engineering and granted accreditation to the programs of Mine Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering.

ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), of the USA, is a non-profit organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This institution is specialized in accreditation of programs offering an academic degree of Bachelor and Master in the areas of applied science, computer science, engineering and engineering technology.

ICACIT accredits programs of professional education in computer science, engineering and engineering technology; it is composed of the Peruvian Association of Engineers (CIP), the National Confederation of Private Entrepreneurial Institutions (CONFIEP), the Peruvian Association of Software Developers (APESOF), the Peruvian Academy of Engineering (API) and the Peruvian Section of IEEE. Accreditations obtained are a public acknowledgment by an external institution, regarding compliance with academic quality offered and goals declared by the accredited academic programs.

ICACIT Accreditation Ceremony

In Friday, November 4, the ceremony of accreditation diploma awarding by Instituto de Calidad y Acreditación de Carreras Profesionales de Ingeniería y Tecnología (ICACIT) was held. It was presided by Dr. Marcial Rubio Correa, president of PUCP, engineers Enrique Alvarez Rodrich, chairperson of the Executive Committee of ICACIT, César Gallegos, chairperson of the Technical Engineering Accreditation Commission of ICACIT, Dr. Pepi Patrón, research vice-president of PUCP, Dr. Carlos Fosca, administrative vice-president of PUCP, Dr. Miguel Mejía, dean of the School of Science and Engineering of PUCP, Eng. Juan Carlos Dextre, head of the Engineering Department of PUCP, and Dr. José Carlos Flores, director of PUCP Quality Institute.
