This elective course blends theory and practice, focusing on telepresence and human-machine interaction while incorporating elements of networking, affective robotics, and social computing. It also explores innovations in telematics and remote agent operation. Students will study the design, control, and implementation of teleoperated systems across various fields, including robotics, healthcare, and aerospace. The course emphasizes applications for teleoperated agents and examines how emerging technologies like pervasive networking, wearable devices, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) create a demand for these agents. The curriculum prompts academic reflection on how these technologies enhance service delivery and improve quality of life. While primarily theoretical, the course aims to develop students’ ability to evaluate the technical, socioeconomic, environmental, and health implications of communication and information infrastructures supporting teleoperated robots and agents. Additionally, the course explores how these technologies integrate with information systems and services, emphasizing sustainability and responsible resource management.
